![]() Wednesday 14th April 2010 Wanderers 4 - 0 Broughton S. S. Quite first quarter with very little action. until Jack played a great ball down the line to Owen who squared it to Matty who then squared it to Iwan to took away passed their keeper. Second quarter and Iwan added his second goal, with a far better quarter, seeing the wanderers moving the ball far better. Third quarter and Owen scored our third with a great through ball from George, and Matty not to be left out added are fourth again with George playing a lone two with Matty to took away a left foot shot. Broughton had a pen in the last minute, but Josh the rock saved well. some good footie at times lads. well done, Neil, Chris and Mike. Sunday 11th April 2010 Broughton Super saints. 3 - 3 Colts Broughton probably shaded the first quarter, their possession forcing several corners. However, it was the Colts who came closest to scoring with Cameron Jones forcing a fine save from the Broughton keeper. Disaster struck early on in the second period, with Broughton scoring straight from the kick-off. This seemed to spur the Colts on to produce some fine attacking football. Cameron Jones had a shot tipped over the bar and Eddy Ashton had a goal bound shot deflected for a corner. Broughton then forced a corner and saw the kick deflected in for their second of the game. The Colts pressed again and Cameron Jones saw a shot narrowly miss. Broughton also came close to going further ahead. From dominating the quarter, the Colts found themselves going in to half-time 2 – 0 down. The second half started with both teams playing some good passing football. Broughton then took the game to the Colts and Lewis Ovens had to make a fine double save. The Colts responded well but just couldn’t force that elusive breakthrough. After having the best of the previous ten minutes, the Colts went further behind after a quick counter attack by the home side. The final quarter saw complete Colts domination. Cameron Jones opened their account with an unstoppable shot. Constant pressure saw several goalmouth scrambles and further Colt’s efforts before Cameron Jones scored the second with a fine volley. George Hayes then completed the comeback with a well-taken goal to make it level at three apiece. The Colts continued to press and, with a little luck, could have added to their three-goal tally and won the game. Mathew Jones was a deserved Man of the Match for a strong defensive performance. Wanderers 5 - 3 Aston Park Rangers Perfect condition for the game today with a very even first quarter, chances missed by both sides. second quarter we scored a great team goal starting with Josh rolling the ball out to Jack, he passed a 40 yard ball down the wing to Luke who squared it to Matty who squared it again to Henri to shoot from close range and score. The lead lasted only a few moments as we failed to clear the ball in the area and to Aston’s credit they equalised. Matty made it 2 -1 with a route one pass from Josh bounced over their defence and Matt put it away. Third quarter Aston level again when Josh saved well and the ball fell to an Aston forward with his back to goal overhead kicked and levelled with a fantastic effort. it wasn't long before Matty made it 3 - 2 when Iwan passed a lovely ball into the path of Matty to shoot low passed their keeper. Aston where not finished there again equalising for a third time. The last quarter and Luke cut inside from the left wing beat two players a coolly slotted home our 4th, by now the Wanderers had stepped up a gear and Matty scoring his third and our 5th to finish off a very good team performance. Tom Zack and Jack worked hard in defence but need to communicate better. its worth mentioning Jack hit a 20 yard rock of a free kick straight in the top corner but unfortunately the goal never stood due to being indirect. Well played lads cheers Neil and Chris Monday 7th April 2010 Aston Park 5 - 1 Colts The Colts started well, keeping possession with some good passing and movement. Aston responded putting the Colts under constant pressure. Aston looked dangerous from corners, and their first goal arrived in such a manner. They continued the pressure on the Colt’s goal and nearly added a second. Buckley were reduced to the odd counter attack, with Charlie Bradley sending in a fine long shot and Cameron Jones hitting a nice volley. The second quarter saw the Colts having much more of the play. Several goalmouth scrambles so nearly produced the equaliser. However, a throw in from mid way in the Colt’s half saw Aston score with a long shot to go into half time 2 –0 up. The second half saw neither side take the advantage. Aston’s third, when it came, should never have stood. A foul on the Colt’s keeper left him sprawled on the ground, with no way of keeping out the goal bound effort. Another Aston goal saw them finish the quarter 4 – 0 up. The Colts showed their fighting spirit and took the game to Aston in the final period. A fierce shot from Henri Jones deflected wickedly of an Aston defender to give the Colts a deserved goal. A second goal looked on the cards with Buckley dominating the game. However, another goalmouth scramble saw Aston going further ahead, to finish the game as 5 – 1 victors. One of the players to shine for the Colts was Ryan Mahon, who produced an outstanding display in his defensive role and won a deserved man of the match award. Sunday 28th March 2010 Wanderers 4 - 0 Deeside Phoenix Fairly even first quarter, with Wanderers having the better of the chances. Finally Matty broke the deadlock with a low shot in bottom corner. into the second quarter the lads upped their game but struggled to get passed Deeside's keeper who was in fine form, Matty was unlucky hitting the bar, and motm Luke hitting the post. the third quarter and we increased our lead with a great strike from Joe, again their keeper made excellent saves. last quarter and George H added a third from a long range shot, this was quickly followed up with Matty tucking away a right shot. Matty then hit the bar again. the shots by now were reining in from all areas of the pitch. the football was very good to watch, the passing and movement was excellent. well done lads well played all. Sunday 21st March 2010 Colts 2 - 2 Deeside Phoenix This was a match reduced to three periods due to time constraints on the visiting side. The first period started fairly even, then Deeside started to pile on the pressure. However, a good passing movement saw Cameron Jones score to give the Colts the lead. Deeside continued to dominate possession, but it was the Colts who could have ended the period further ahead after fine efforts from Jack Malone and Cameron Jones. The Colts had the better of the second period, but finished it on the wrong side of a 2 – 1 score line. Deeside looked dangerous from corners and drew level with a fine header, then took the lead through a goalmouth scramble. Eddie Ashton nearly levelled the scores but was denied by a fine save. The final period saw the Colts dominate. Cameron Jones got his second of the game through a fine team effort. Charlie Bradley then saw a cracking shot canon back off the post. Deeside rode out the storm and then started to exert some pressure of their own. The game could have gone either way, and it was probably fair that it finished as a 2 –2 draw CQT 1 - 7 Wanderers Lovely day for a game of footie, and it wasn't to long to wait for Iwan to open the scoring, with a shot from edge of area through a crowd of players. The Quay responded quickly from a corner when we failed to clear the ball. up stepped Iwan with his second goal and quickly adding his third making it 3-1 at end of first quarter. the second quarter we played some excellent football from the back, passing the ball down the wings, and it wasn't long before Matty added our fourth from a rebound. third quarter sore Matty add his second with a belting left foot shot into the roof of the net. Again the passing and movement was very pleasing to watch with several parents commenting on how lovely it was to watch. The last quarter sore Henri score and Owen making it seven. But for excellent goal keeping by Connah's Quay the score line would of been greater. The pleasing point was to see the lads play football, the way it should be played. Well done lads you were all motm , proud of you all Sunday 14th March 2010 Hawarden Rangers 2 - 1 Wanderers Good game and close encounter, first quarter sore Zack hit the post with some great build up play. second quarter, and the lads used the wingers to full advantage. Iwan playing a lovely ball into Pezzer to lash an unstoppable shot from a tight angle. In the 3rd quarter and how we never extended our lead only god knows, Pezzer firing over and hitting bar, Marcus shooting just wide as well. Final quarter, with so many missed chances cost us dearly, with our defence standing off Hawardens forwards they eventually equalised, and it wasn't long until we conceded again another sloppy goal. Henri was unlucky not to of tied the game with a one on one late on. Vast improvement from last week, but we all got to contribute lads and not give in so easily. Good effort though lads Colts 4 - 4 Connah's Quay Tigers The Colts made their customary slow start to the match, conceding a goal in the first five minutes. Connah’s Quay continued to press and saw a defensive header hit the post. Buckley responded and started to put pressure on the Tiger’s goal, with shots from Charlie Bradley, George Hayes and Cameron Jones raining in on goal. Connah’s Quay held out to lead after the quarter 1 – 0. The Tigers piled on the pressure at the start of the next period, with some fine keeping from Sean Sweeney keeping them at bay. The Colts responded and Jack Malone scored to make the game level at half time. The third quarter saw the Colts start to dominate the game, with Cameron Jones cracking in a shot to make it 2 –1. Connah’s Quay responded with a beautiful move and finish to bring the scores level once again. Some quick thinking from a throw in allowed Cameron Jones to cut in from the left to score his second of the game. Connah’s Quay responded once again with a goalmouth scramble to end the quarter on level terms at three goals apiece. The Colts started the final period the stronger of the two with several shots on goal, but fell behind to a quick break from the Tigers. The Colts responded with Cameron Jones unlucky with a shot that the keeper parried onto the post. Cameron was not to be denied his hat-trick and scored a superb third to bring the game level again at 4 – 4. Both teams had chances to win the game, but neither deserved to lose and a draw was, in the end, a fair result. Well-done lads on a true battling Colts performance. Anyone could have been Man-Of-The-Match, with fine performances all-round. In the end, it had to be Cameron Jones for a superbly taken hat trick. Sunday 7th Match 2010 Colts 0 - 4 Hawarden Rangers A bright start to the game from both teams, with some good attacking play matched by some equally impressive defensive work. The Colts created the first chance of the game, with a shot from Cameron Jones that flew just inches wide. However, some late pressure from Hawarden saw them finish the quarter 1 – 0 to the good. Hawarden continued their attacking play putting constant pressure on the Colt’s goal. The Colts then started to grow in confidence, putting some fine passing moves together, but failing to find an opening. Right on the stroke of half time, disaster struck, when a shot from Hawarden hit a patch of mud to shoot over the diving body of the Colt’s keeper. The Colts could count themselves most unfortunate to go in at half-time 2 – 0 down. Some good play from the Colts saw them take the third quarter. Several shots found the target, but some fine shot stopping from the Hawarden keeper kept the score at 2 - 0. A bad start to the final quarter saw Hawarden go 3 – 0 up in the first minute. The remainder of the match saw Buckley dominate with some good passing and multiple shots raining in on the Hawarden goal; one hitting the underside of the bar but failing to cross the line. Hawarden were restricted to the odd break. Unfortunately, from one of these they added another goal to win the game 4 – 0. Despite the score line, this was a fine battling display from the Colts. On another day the final score could have been a lot different. Eddy Ashton won a deserved Man-Of-The-Match award for some enterprising runs and fine passing. Flint & Bagillt 5 - 1 Wanderers Game at Flint today, we conceded a very early goal which bobbled up in front of Josh In goal, this seamed to wake us up and the response was very positive, playing some good football, passing and moving the ball well, but could not find a way through on Flint goal. In the second quarter we collapsed. Flint ran us ragged all over the pitch, with the lads heads going down and giving in to easy, hence conceding 3 goals, if not for Josh we would of conceded far more. In the third quarter Iwan played a lovely through ball to Matty to slot home. This sparked us into life With a lovely ball by Jack down the line to Luke who crossed to Iwan who was so unlucky not to of scored. this was a far better response. In the final quarter and Marcus played Henri through with a one on one, which Flint's keeper kept out. This was a bit of a reality check today and unfortunately we have to compete for the whole game and not just part of it lads. Well done anyway lads, and i'll be looking for a positive response in training with the view to a better performance next week. Thanks Neil Sunday 28th February 2010 Mynydd Isa 2 - 1 Colts Both teams started well in a fairly even first quarter. Buckley started to show a bit more attacking flair, with Jack Malone making the breakthrough after some fine work from Charlie Bradley. Buckley piled on the pressure in the second quarter but failed to make the pressure pay. The home team started to claw their way back into the match and finished the half the stronger team, scoring the equaliser in the process to go into half-time level at 1 –1. The third quarter was an edgy affair with neither side playing their best football. It was no surprise that the score remained the same going into the final quarter. The last fifteen minutes, took on a similar pattern as the last with neither team looking like getting the decisive winner. However, with about a minute left on the clock, the home side scored to win the game 2 –1. Well-done lads for a hard fought match. A deserved Man-of-the-match award was presented to Ben McLean for yet another outstanding performance.
Llysfaen 1 - 2 Wanderers
Played a game of
11 aside and half hour e/w today in Llysfaen. The game was very
competitive game and a fairly close encounter until Luke Woolley
broke the dead lock with a cross from the right by Iwan to Matty who
squared it to Luke to shoot, the keeper saved well and Luke followed
in for rebound. Josh in goal made some fine saves keeping Llysfaen
out in the first half. Sunday 14th February 2010 Shotton Steel 4 - 3 Colts The previous fixture between these two teams was a nightmare for the Colts, with them ending up on the wrong side of a 9 – 1 score line. With less than 30 seconds on the clock Shotton went 1 – 0 up. This was the wake up call the Colts needed and they dominated the rest of the quarter, unluckily ending it still 1 – 0 down. The second quarter got under way with Shotton calling the tune. However, a goal apiece saw the Colts go in at half time 2 – 1 down, with George Hayes scoring the vital goal. A stirring half-time talk saw the Colts revitalised. The next fifteen minutes saw them constantly pressing for the equaliser, with a superb effort from a tight angle by Ryan Mahon hitting the post. It was an unfair reflection on the game, when the period ended with the Colts a further goal behind. However, all was not lost. The Colts set up camp in the Shotton half, going close on several occasions before Owen Hibbert slotted home to make the score 3 – 2. A rare Shotton attack saw a shot cannon off the Colt’s crossbar. The Colts piled on the pressure and George Hayes got his second of the game to level the score. It looked like there was only going to be one winner, with the Colts keeping up the pressure. However, with less than a minute to go, Shotton hit the Colts on the break with a superbly taken goal to win the match 4 – 3. This was junior football at its best, with both teams contributing to a thoroughly entertaining game. The Colts man of the match award could have gone to any member of the team. Ryan Mahon was awarded the honour for another outstanding display. Holywell Dragons 0 - 5 Wanderers A good game with some very good wing play from Iwan and Luke cause Holywell a lot of problems. Marcus and little George battled none stop in middle field winning most balls, and playing Henri and Matty through several times. Captain Zack led by example with a commanding defensive performance, this inspired Tom, Matty J, Finn and Ben who coped with everything Holywell through at them. Josh in goal commanded his area a lot better today and settled his defence in front of him. Goal scored by Iwan, Luke, Henri and Matty 2. Tuff call for man of the match, but gave to Matty Pezzer. well played lads, cheers Neil and Chris. Sunday 7th February 2010 Holywell Dragons 2 - 2 Colts A very slow start to the game with neither side looking capable of making the breakthrough. The quarter ended with honours even at 1 –1, Owen Hibbert scoring for the Colts. The game came to life in the second quarter, with both teams starting to play some good passing football. The Colts were looking the more likely team to take the lead. However, Holywell went in to half time 2 –1 to the good. The third quarter was a fairly even affair, with neither team giving an inch. It was no surprise, therefore, that the quarter remained goalless, with Holywell taking a 2 – 1 lead going in to the final fifteen. It was end-to-end stuff in the final period, with both teams trying to add to their goal tally. George Hayes broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal giving The Colts a well-deserved share of the spoils. Lewis Ovens won a deserved man of the match award for his goalkeeping display and as an unaccustomed defender in the final quarter. Holywell Jnrs 3 - 2 Wanderers A very good game, from two good teams, Holywell took the lead and then very quickly added their second in the same manner as their first goal with sloppy defending. must learn to close the opposition down quicker lads. in the second third and leading by example captain Henri ,Matty, Little George, got stuck in with some crunching tackles in midfield, and finally got our reward from a corner, when motm Zack won the ball inside Holywell's area and put a pin point pass to Henri to score, excellent battling. Holywell soon scored a third from a corner with good movement pulling us ouy of position. Matty Little George, Iwan and Henri all came very close to scoring. then with ten mins left Matty Pezzer won the ball on the half way line, playing the ball into Henri's feet, who then returned the pass to Pezzer who then played a one two with Iwan on the right wing, who in turn put pezzer through with a lovely waited pass and from an acute angle lashed home a stunning right foot shot into the far top corner. the lads pushed on and where unlucky not to of gained at least a draw. A very good competitive game and all the lads of both teams were a credit to their respective clubs. Like watching a good old derby game. well done all cheers Neil and Chris. Sunday 24 January 2010 Colts 2 - 5 Mold Dragons Mold started the game well, putting a lot of pressure on the Colt’s goal. Buckley responded, with a couple of counter attacks resulting in a well taken goal from Mathew Perry (on-loan striker from the Wanderers) The second quarter proved a fairly even affair with both teams striving for the advantage. The Colts increased their advantage with another well taken goal from Mathew Perry. Mold struck back, to go into half-time 2 – 1 down. A battling third quarter saw Mold get the breaks, grabbing a couple of goals to go into the final fifteen 3 –2 to the good. The final period saw a tired looking Colts taking the field. Without their full compliment of substitutes, the pace of the game began to tell. Mold eventually ran out winners by five goals to two Mold Sparks 1 - 4 Wanderers After such a long absence from playing football the lads started slowly and fell behind very early to a well worked Mold goal, In hind sight it was the wake up call the lads needed, and it wasn't long before Henri motm Jones equalised with a well taken goal through sheer perseverance. In the second quarter the game was fairly even until Luke Wooley extended our lead, again from a tight angle. Marcus and George where very unlucky not to add to our goal tally. In the third quarter the lads settled down and moved the ball very well using the full width of the pitch and scored, Matty goal machine Pezzer added our third. Iwan Bains hit the wood work from all of 20 yards. into final quarter and the lads saved the best goal to last. Iwan took a corner which fell into the path of Zack Williams who hit a rocket of a half volley into the back of Molds goal. Josh our keeper had a fairly quiet game but when required made good saves, and on one occasion Mold got around him Matty Jones like a rock was there to clear off the line. Molds keeper made some fantastic saves keeping the score realistic. good game after a long break, well done lads pleasing to watch. Sunday 6 December 2009 Aston Park 1 - 5 Wanderers
The last game before the
Christmas break was on a cold and wet Sunday morning with the pitch
very muddy in the middle of the park from the whistle. But, it
wasn't long before the Wanderers put Aston under pressure and a goal
by Marcus Williams gave Buckley an early lead, but Aston kept on
going and levelled the score from a deflected shot. The 2nd quarter
saw some great football down the wings from the wanderers and it
wasn't long before they were 1 - 2 up from Henri Jones. Sunday 29 November 2009 Colts 4 - 3 Aston Park The Colts could have easily opened the scoring in the first couple of minutes. Aston then started to find their feet turning the quarter into a fairly even affair. The opening goal came from a set piece. Cameron Jones sent in an in-swinging corner, which the Aston keeper failed to hold. Aston then equalised through a goalmouth scramble resulting in a goal from close range. The second quarter started with Aston scoring soon after the kick off. The Colts then turned on the style, with a fine passing movement involving Cameron Jones, Jack Malone and George Hayes, ending with George slotting home the equaliser. (2 – 2) The Colts then took the lead with another fine goal. Owen Hibbert won the ball on the halfway line and took off towards goal. A squared ball set up George Hayes for his second, giving the Colts a 3 – 2 advantage at half time. Both teams fought each other to a stalemate in the third quarter. The quarter remained goalless; the Colts preserving their 3 –2 lead. The Colts looked more likely to score with some fine balls from midfield. The telling pass, found Iwan Baines who calmly slotted home to make the score 4 –2. This seemed to spur Aston on. A corner resulted in a goalmouth scramble, which the Colts failed to clear. The ball was then slotted home from close range. Aston piled on the pressure in the remaining seconds, but the Colts managed to hold on. The whole team played extremely well in very difficult conditions. Adam Kenny was a deserved winner of The Man Of The Match Award with a fine defensive display. Sunday 22 November 2009 Colts 0 - 5 Flint & Bagillt Flint & Bagillt dominated the early part of the game. This early pressure saw them hit the post before they finally put the ball in the net to end the quarter 1 – 0 to the good. The second quarter saw the Colts mount some attacks of their own. However, the lack of that final telling ball prevented them from creating any chances. Flint & Bagillt continued to have more of the ball, and some poor marking saw them grab two quick goals to head into half time three goals up. The second half of the match continued in a similar vein with Flint & Bagillt doing most of the attacking. This pressure told, with them adding another two goals to their tally. However, it wasn’t all one-way traffic, with Charlie Bradley hitting the bar with a long range effort and a couple of other efforts going close. The fourth quarter was a different story, with the Colts more than holding their own. The score stayed at 5 – 0, but the Colts can count themselves unfortunate not to have scored a consolation goal. A deserved Man of the Match award went to Ryan McMahon, for an outstanding performance in his defensive position Sunday 15 November 2009 Deeside Phoenix 2 - 3 Colts The Colts started the game slowly and found themselves under constant pressure. It seemed inevitable that Deeside would take the lead, but the Colts held on ending the quarter level at 0 – 0. The second quarter saw the Colts take the initiative, with a fine effort from Mathew Perry opening the scoring. However, Deeside continued to play some nice football and equalised making the half time score 1 –1. The second half started with both sides playing some nice passing football and it was Deeside who took the advantage to make the score 2 – 1. The Colt’s equaliser was worth the wait, with an unstoppable cross shot from Jack Malone taking the game into the last quarter all square at 2 – 2. The winner proved to be the best goal of the game. A superb passing movement found Jack Malone who put Mathew Perry through on goal to seal the victory. An all round pleasing effort from the Colts who worked hard and played some attractive football. Mathew Perry won a deserved Man Of the Match award for his all round effort and two well taken goals. Sunday 8 November 2009 Deeside Phoenix 4 - 7 Wanderers After a few weeks without a match the wanderers where a bit rusty but played in very muddy conditions. we created several chances to score throughout the game scoring 7 but conceding 4 from some very sloppy play, with players pushing forward leaving us short in defence. the pitch spoilt the game in the end with the ball holding up in the mud for both teams, this really effected our passing game. But well done to all lads, and well done Iwan on scoring 3. Motm Tom Lyons. Connah's Quay Tigers 2 - 3 Colts After having their last match postponed, the Colts were eager to continue their winning ways. The first quarter was a pretty even affair, with the Colts possibly shading possession and territorial advantage. There were few chances, and consequently the quarter finished with the score sheet blank. The second quarter continued in the same vain, with neither side wishing to give ground. However, the Tiger’s took advantage of two dead ball situations, a free kick and a corner, to put themselves two goals to the good. Having been well in the game, the Colts found themselves 2 – 0 down at half time. The pattern of the game remained much the same throughout the third quarter, with the Colts eagerly attacking hoping to pull a goal back. However, it was the Tigers who came closest, and only a scrambled goalmouth clearance saved the Colts from going 3 – 0 down. The last fifteen minutes saw the game turned on its head, with the Colts sending down attack after attack. Shots were raining in on the Tiger’s goal, with Cameron coming closest, seeing his shot rebound off the post. Finally the pressure paid off, with Jack Malone opening the Colt’s account with a fine shot. The Colt’s second was a close range affair. A fine ball from Owen Hibbert found Cameron Jones and George Hayes, both claiming a touch on the ball. Two all and the game was in the balance. Cameron Jones won the game for the Colts with a fine solo effort; one on one with the goalkeeper, he coolly slotted the ball home. A popular choice for Man of The Match was goalkeeper Louis Ovens, who commanded his area and kept the Colts in the game with some fine examples of shot stopping. Sunday 25 October 2009 Colts 2 - 0 Mynydd Isa A very even game right from the start, with very few chances for either side. It was no surprise therefore, that the first quarter ended with the score at 0 – 0. The second quarter told a different story, with the Colts on the offensive. The pressure finally told, and two fine goals from Cameron Jones and Herni Jones saw the Colts go in at half time two goals to the good. If the home supporters were expecting more, then they were to be disappointed, with Mynydd Isa attempting to claw their way back into the match. However, at the end of the third quarter, the Colts were still two goals ahead. The fourth quarter belonged to Mynydd Isa, and only stout defending saw the Colts retain their two goal advantage. Mathew Jones was a rock in defence, and thoroughly deserved his Man Of The Match award. A big thank you to Henri Jones, Luke Woolley and George Hayes of the Wanderers for helping out an under strength Colts team.
Sunday 18 October 2009 Shotton Steel 1 - 10 Wanderers After a very even first quarter the score remained nil nil. In the second quarter the wanderers woke up scoring four goals and Josh our keeper made a top class save keeping Shotton out, again in third quarter making two great saves which earn't him motm, the lads added a further three goals and credit to Shotton they got a reward and scored and kept going. In the final quarter we added three more, also hitting the post several times. George h, Marcus w, Zack and George p all came very close to adding to score line. Luke and Iwan both scored 33 a piece, Henri 2, Jack 1 and Matty 1. Excellent team performance.
Sunday 11 October 2009 Shotton Steel 9 - 1 Colts The match started well for the Colts with some early pressure nearly resulting in the opening goal. Shotton started to attack, and only some resolute defending and superb goalkeeping from Sean Sweeney kept them at bay. However, the pressure told at last, with Shotton opening the scoring and ending the first quarter 1-0 to the good. The second quarter should have belonged to the Colts. However, a simple back pass to the goalkeeper was pounced on by a nearby Shotton player for probably his easiest goal of the season. The Colts’ performance this quarter, should have seen then at least on level terms, but instead they found themselves even further behind at 2-0. The third quarter was a fairly even affair, with Owen Hibbert pulling a goal back for the Colts, making the score 2-1 to Shotton. However, some well taken chances saw Shotton go into the final quarter with a 4-1 lead. The Colts went into the game without any substitutes. This told in the final quarter, with Shotton having the advantage of fresh legs due to their full compliment of substitutes. They laid siege adding a further five goals in the process. There were good performances from everyone on the pitch. Sean Sweeney won man of the match for another outstanding goalkeeping performance. Special mention should be made of Lewis Ovens, who had a fine game in his out of position role of defender. Holywell Dragons 0 - 8 Wanderers
A great game to watch and coach with some nice football throughout
the 60 mins and it wasn't long before Matty Perry scored his
1st before the break. The boys continued to pressure in the 2nd
quarter with a great goal from Zac and another for Matty. The 3rd
quarter saw a fantastic goal by George Peers, and with goals from
George Tudor and Luke Woolley, Holywell's heads starting to fall.
But, it wasn't all about scoring with some solid defending by Joe,
Jack, George H & Marcus it helped Tom Lyons keep a clean sheet. Sunday 4th October 2009 Holywell Jnrs 2 - 3 Wanderers A very entertaining game played in the right manner, which could of gone either way, with the Wanderers just piping Holywell to the win. With very little to choose between the teams, Holywell broke the deadlock with persistence forcing us in to a mistake in our own area. Henri Jones levelled the score from a break from our own half slotting it nicely passed their keeper. Into the second third and Holywell scored again through poor defending. Both keepers made fine save keeping the game close. into the last third and the lads stepped up the pace playing their best football with George P, George H, Iwan, Luke, Motm Marcus bossing the middle of the pitch. Matty Pezzer levelled then put us ahead through great persevering. This was a hard fought and enjoyable match played by two good teams. Well done all lads. ( away at Holywell High school next sunday 10.30 kick off, be their 10.00 please.) Colts 5 - 3 Holywell Dragons
What a
game to watch, both teams working really hard but it was Holywell
who took an early lead and it took a great finish by George Hayes to
level the scores. But Holywell kept on battling and after confusion
at the back Holywell clinched a second. But, the Colts battled back
with a great goal by Matty Perry, and he wasn't finished with
another goal in the third quarter. The boys were playing some
excellent football with some nice passes throughout the game and it
took a fantastic individual goal by Eddy Ashton to make it 4 - 2
and Eddy finished the 4th quarter with his second to complete a
really good performance by the whole team. Sunday 27th September 2009 Wanderers 1 - 3 Mold Dragons A very enjoyable game to watch and was a close encounter. Mold capitalised on poor defending pulling us out of position and taking their chances when they where presented with them. it was a well fought game with some strong tackles from both teams, our man of the match Matty Pezzer scored our goal through sheer grit and determination dribbling through several challengers. Henri Jones was a constant threat, Zack, Luke, Iwan, George P Marcus and Tom battled hard all over the field. Josh Made some fine saves in goal. well Played lads unlucky. we need to work on communication and defending in the coming weeks. Cheers Neil Colts 3 - 4 Holywell Jnrs
An excellent
game to watch with both teams working hard, but with Holywell going
1 up in the 1st quarter it took as fantastic goal from George Peers
to level the scores. The Colts showed their determination with some
fantastic tackling at the back by Joe French, but in the last
quarter with the score being 3 - 3 after goals from Holywell
and goals for the Colts by Cameron Jones & Adam Woosey. The final 5
minutes were really entertaining with chances at both ends and
a great save by Lewis Ovens, it was Holywell who clinched the
winner. Sunday 20th september 2009 Mold Dragons 8 - 1 Colts Poor start to the game by the Colts with Mold taking an early lead and with the Colts slow to recover it wasn't long before Mold scored another with them closing out the 1st quarter 3 nil.
Mold
continued to press throughout the game with goals in the 2nd and 3rd
quarter with the Colts coming close on a couple of occasions. The
Colts were having no luck in front of goal until the last quarter
and after some good work down the right hand wing by Jack Malone and
excellent skill and determination by Adam Woosey, he grabbed the
Colts only goal of the game. Mold continued to pass and move and
finished the quarter as they started to complete the rout 8 - 1. Wanderers 4 - 2 Mold Sparks A well fought game in warm conditions sore the Wanderers score with George Peers head ring in from a corner. We passed the ball very well, using our wide men, with several players coming close, Matty hitting the post George Peers Luke and Iwan all coming very close. In the second third with several changes, our lads started slowly and where soon punished with some sloppy play. After Mold soaking up all the pressure in the first third they then equalised then took the lead with sheer determination, out battling us in midfield, until Henri Jones putting the Wanderers back level toward the end of the second third. In the last third both teams went for it but with some great passing and moving sore Matty Pezzer sore his first and our third, Marcus, Zack and Luke all came very close to adding to the score line, and Josh our keeper made some fine saves keeping Mold out. From a Mold Corner Luke collected the ball played it forward to Henri who in turn put Matty through on goal who added his second and our fourth. Some good football, and passing in very warm conditions for both teams. Well done lads Neil, Nick. Sunday 13th September 2009 Wanderers 7 - 1 Mostyn Dragons Second game of the season at home in very warm conditions sore a fairly even first third with Henri Jones breaking the dead lock with a fine taken goal. Tom in goal made some fine saves to keep Mostyn out. Into the second third and Matty Pezzer put away 4 goals, we could of added further to our tally but for some good keeping from Mostyn. In the last third sore Matty score a further 2, and was unlucky not to be man of the match as Zack Williams was solid as a rock with his tackling and also made good use of the ball when in possession. Henri, George Peers, Luke, Iwan and George Tudor all came very close to scoring. what was pleasing to see was the team work the passing and movement. Well done lads you all played well. Mold Sparks 5 - 3 Colts Tough second game for the Colts with them still asleep in the 1st quarter and ending it 2 nil down. But, after the break the Colts came out ready to play and after some great wing play by Jack Malone the Colts were back in it at 3 - 2.
The 3rd
quarter saw some good football from both sides with some excellent
defending from the Colts the scores stayed at 3 - 2. The last
quarter saw the Colts becoming tired and although Adam Woosey
scored an excellent header, Mold finished the game the strongest
with a 5 - 3 win.
Sunday 6 September 2009 Wanderers 4 - 1 Mynydd Isa First game back and a very pleasing result to match a pleasing performance. took a lead through Matty Perry in first quarter, some good build up play using the whole pitch.
